Translator's Note
This is the Vietnamese version of the 2019 Rules of Golf, translated from the English edition “Rules of Golf – Effective January 2019” by R&A and USGA, effective worldwide from January 2019.
Some notable points of this translation are:
It is presented identically to the English edition, from structure, format, content, number of pages to the content of each page. This is our effort to help readers easily look up and compare between the two editions in Vietnamese and English.
Near the end of this translation, we have added the translation of the Rules Clarifications, published quarterly by R&A and USGA in January, April, July and October each year, to supplement and clarify the rules in the above-mentioned 2019 Rules of Golf edition. In some rules (e.g., rules 10.2b(4), 10.3b(2)), we have added a translator's note, pointing to the corresponding rule clarification, to help readers easily look up when needed.
In the Definitions and Index section near the end of the translation, we have retained the English terms and footnotes next to the Vietnamese translation to help readers, if they are familiar with these English terms and footnotes, easily connect and understand them better. We encourage readers to look through these two sections, especially the Definitions section first, to be able to grasp these very important concepts of the rules of golf.
This translation is our personal effort, golf lovers, with the desire to popularize golf rules in particular and golf in general to the Vietnamese golf community - those who have played, are playing and will play golf, those whose jobs are related to golf and those who love this sport - who want to learn and apply the rules properly to make the game more interesting and fair. We therefore ask readers to only use this translation for personal, non-commercial purposes and please clearly indicate the source when quoting.
